Glamping Experience in New Zealand

04/08/2019

If you are heading to South Island you must put Valley Views Glamping on your list! It’s a 1 hour 40-minute drive from Mt Cook and a 2.5 hour drive from Queenstown. Not only is this a luxury accommodation but it’s an experience itself located in the Waitaki Valley. On the way into the valley we were surrounded by the most stunning views. It took us much longer to actually get to the accomodation because we stopped so many times to take photos, so give yourself some time wander πŸ™‚

On arrival we were welcomed by two pups and the lovely Patrick and Amber who are the hosts of this magical place. We were in awe of this place. The views from our tent were breathtaking. I could happily wake up here everyday. Amber grew up in Waitaki Valley so she had all the answers to our questions about the area. I can understand why she never left this place cause it is incredible.

Patrick and Amber hold such great values. This really stood out to me whilst we were staying here. They are very environmentally conscious and they do all they can to make this place as eco-friendly as they can. They are big on recycling, saving energy where they can, and their septic tank is a worm farm. It truly was inspiring.

During our stay I was getting a lot of questions about if it was warm inside these clamping tents.

The Answer: We were so toasty! They kindly set us up with firewood, newspaper and pinecones. Amber shared her phone number with us so if we had any issues, she would come down to help. The tent has warm down duvets so it was almost impossible to get cold! I should also mention that this bed was probably the most comfiest bed I have ever slept on.

About a minute walk from your glamping tent there is a building that holds all your cooking needs! When you wake up there will be fresh local fruit, eggs, bread waiting for you. My eyes lit up when I saw there range of teas and coffee that you can choose from. You can stay inside by the toasty fireplace or head outside and enjoy the views.

One of the (many) coolest things here are the outdoor HOT bath tubs! They are hidden away in the back with views of the rolling hills. I could of easily spent hours here just listening to the cows moo-ing in the distance. The serenity was real.

If you do end up booking Valley Views Glamping, I recommend you check out Omarama hot pools for sunset. It’s about a 40 minute drive from the accomodation and it’s worth the drive! There is also so much more to do such as hiking, drinking, water activities, massages, etc, etc.

This will defining be our go-to place when we return to South Island
