LENSES

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4.0

This lens is impressive. It is versatile and my most used lens. If I had to pick one lens to bring with me for any shoot, it would be this one. It's great in low light, the focus is incredible and it will bring your photography to the next level.

Wildlife, landscapes, portraits you name it, this lens was made for it! I remember renting this lens for the first time to bring to New Zealand and falling in love (see image below). It brings your images to life in such a magical way. I still get so excited using this lens.

This is an amazing adventure travel landscape ultra wide-angle lens! I took this to Everest Base Camp and it brought my trip to life. The clarity and stability is incredible.

This is my only fixed lens and it always delivers crispy images. Never lets me down. I bring this lens if I'm shooting portraits, fashion, food or products. It is also a great for travel because it's light and the f/1.4 aperture can take on the low light, delivering a beautiful shallow depth of field.

VIDEO EDITING

There's a few different ways I edit videos. If I'm putting together a vlog, cinematic video or anything on the lines of professional use, I use Final Cut Pro. I've used Adobe Premiere Pro in the past but I do prefer Final Cut. If I'm editing a reel or a video for my stories, I'll create it right on Instagram if it's a simple video. If I'm going to be using more than 3 clips, I use the app InShot.

Accessories

Camera Bag + Inserts

I use The 25L Pro Backpack from Db (originally known as Douchebags). It is water resistant and has extra padded protection without being bulky so I trust that my equipment is safe. One negative thing that I must add is the mesh pocket for my water bottle didn't last long and has holes in it.

I use two different inserts. If i'm bringing a few of my lenses with me, I will use my bigger insert - KΓ…NKEN PHOTO INSERT which fits perfectly in my bag. If its a short day, I will use my The CIA Insert (DB) which leaves a little more extra room in my bag.

In regards to my drone, I generally just keep it in the shoulder bag it came with separately.

Computers

MacBook Pro & iMac

For photo editing I will use my computer, I rarely use my phone unless it's for a quick story. If I'm home and I have a big job to edit, I'll use my iMac. The MacBook Pro is a necessity for travel. I recently upgraded from 2015 to the 2020. This industry is very expensive but for me it is important to upgrade when I can.

CREATIVE CLOUD SUBSCRIPTION

I pay A$14.29/month for my photography plan which includes my most used apps, Lightroom and Photoshop. Editing for me brings my photos to life and it's one of my favourite parts of photography! I will have a preset pack to purchase sometime next year with my favourite most used presets.

A question that I get asked so much is
"how are my Instagram posts such good quality"
I've taken a screenshot of my export settings from Lightroom (below on mobile) (left on desktop). All my images on Instagram are taken with my Canon.

My iPHONE

How amazing are phones nowadays? Insane quality right? You can probably tell by now that I'm an apple girl. Majority of the reels and videos that you see on my Instagram come straight from my phone. I've been using the iPhone 11 the last year or so but I recently upgraded to the iPhone 13. The camera just keeps getting better and better. Two apps that I use almost daily and recommend for a quick edit (photo and video) is the Tezza app and Tone App, they rock!
