Top 5 Destinations to Visit in Tasmania!

Bay of Fires

Northeastern Coast

Bay of Fires is approximately 4 hours from Hobart and 3 hours from Launceston. You'll find an amazing combination of crystal clear water, white squeaky sandy beaches and orange boulders where you won't see anywhere else. I had no idea that the water was so clear in Tasmania, it reminded me of Byron Bay or Noosa. Before we came to Bay of Fires, I didn't have an exact spot to explore so we just beach hopped for the day. We started at Binalong Bay and ended at Eddystone Point. The photos displayed here are from Sloop Reef and Eddystone Point.

Little Blue Lake

Gladstone, North East

Make sure to add this location to your list! Type little blue lake into your maps and it'll take you straight there. We squeezed this in on our way from Launceston to Bay of Fires and I'm glad we did. Originally a mine hole, the lake reflects an aqua blue from the minerals in its base. I barley had to edit these photos, you see what you get. It really is vivid blue! Unfortunately it isn't a good place for swimming due to the high toxic metals but it is worth the stop! It is a great spot for photos and a picnic.

02

Bridestowe Lavender Estate

North East | Nabowla

Flowers bloom December / January but visitors are welcome all year round. Did you know that Australia has the worlds largest privately owned lavender farm? Right here in Tasmania, over 125 acres of Lavender to explore! They stock pure lavender products including oils, soaps, balms and many more. Make sure to stop and get some Lavender ice cream before you leave, it's the best I've ever had!
TIP: If you would like to take sunrise or sunset photos, you need to arrange something with the owners. We made this mistake thinking they were going to be open later.

03

Maria Island

East Coast

Ferry Price: $45 Return/Adult | $28 Return/Child
Park Pass Price (required): $20
It is on the pricey side but it is totally worth it. We spent half a day here which was enough time to see the island but I would recommend a full day. It's filled with wildlife and the most beautiful beaches! I was in shock how blue and clear the water was. If you want to see a wombat, come to Maria because you are almost guaranteed to see one. You can rent a bike at the bike shop on the island or you can bring your own on the ferry for an extra fee. I personally think that this is the best way to see the island. Make sure to bring food and water because there aren't any other shops on the island.

04

MT AMOS

Freycinet National Park

I would be lying to you if I said this hike wasn't challenging. If you're reasonably fit, you shouldn't have any dramas. It took us about an hour to get up and I believe even longer to get down. I'm scared of heights so it was mentally draining for me but it was worth it! Coming back down, I was literally on my butt sliding down rocks. We started climbing up around first light because it was our first time and didn't know what to expect. Make sure you check the weather and do not attempt this hike if it is or has been raining. I heard that people get stuck up here and have to get rescued via helicopter quite a bit! Tip: Bring heaps of water, proper shoes, sun protection
